Athenaeum of the Pacific Northwest

Project Views

  • Arrival Experience

The Athenaeum’s arrival is designed as a gradual transition from the city into a layered world of learning, gathering, and exchange. A series of interconnected volumes frames a central courtyard, drawing visitors inward while revealing glimpses of activity, movement, and nature beyond.

  • Walking the Edge

The façade’s intricate timber screens create a shifting threshold between inside and out. Filtering sunlight, casting changing shadows, and giving the building a sense of movement throughout the day. Elevated walkways connect the surrounding volumes, making circulation visible and turning movement itself into part of the experience.

  • North Facade

The Athenaeum’s elevated walkways extend toward the lake, creating a continuous connection between the building, landscape, and water.

The walkways transform circulation into a place to pause, observe, and connect, allowing the lake to remain a constant presence throughout the Athenaeum.
